Affirming International Standing: Hanoi Re Organizes Technical Risk Assessment and Training for Coal-Fired Power Plant in Cambodia

Hanoi Re conducted an intensive training program on risk identification and safe operation for CEL 1&2 Thermal Power Plant in Cambodia. The program was highly regarded for its practical relevance and technical expertise.

Recently, Hanoi Re successfully implemented this specialized training focused on technical risk identification and operational safety management at CEL 1&2 Thermal Power Plant, owned by Cambodian Energy Limited (CEL) — one of the first and largest coal-fired power plants in Cambodia, located in Preah Sihanouk province.

The program was specifically designed for the plant’s engineers and management team. During the training, Hanoi Re experts worked closely with the participants to analyze the unique technical risks associated with the thermal power plant, clarify the root causes of common incidents, and introduce modern tools for technical risk management, including the FMEA and Bowtie models. All content was developed to closely reflect actual operational conditions at the facility, making it easier for trainees to understand and apply.

The training was conducted by a team of engineers from Hanoi Re’s Risk Engineering department—experts with many years of experience surveying risks for power plants, chemical facilities, and heavy industries in Vietnam and the ASEAN region. The program received positive feedback from both trainees and company representatives, who praised its practicality, ease of application, and professional depth.

In recent years, Hanoi Re has provided risk assessment services to numerous international reinsurers across industries such as oil and gas, energy, and transportation infrastructure. The assessed assets are located in various countries throughout Southeast Asia, affirming the company’s strong position and technical expertise.
